About Us

In 1999 a few classical music enthusiasts decided it was time to bring world-renowned classical performers to their new hometown of Lewes, Delaware instead of traveling back to Philadelphia, Washington DC, or New York.  They were not alone in longing to hear live concerts by internationally acclaimed artists in an intimate setting close to home.

The founding group established Coastal Concerts, which we refer to as "CoCo," as a non-profit 501(c)(3). The organization was managed and operated entirely by volunteers until December 2008 when the Board of Directors hired a part-time Executive Director. To this day all board members are volunteers.

For 23 years this volunteer-led organization has thrived! Each season we present six live performances at Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes, Delaware and draw audience members from the entire Mid-Atlantic region. In addition, CoCo encourages classical music appreciation through community outreach, educational activities and awarding scholarships to deserving young musicians.

We are extremely grateful to have loyal patrons, donors, business sponsors and volunteers that make up our "circle of friends."

Our budget for the 2022-2023 concert season is roughly $150,000. Tickets sales are projected to provide about 40% of the total revenues needed to cover our expenses. The remainder of the funds we need are raised through sales of program booklet advertising, grants, and individual as well as corporate donations.

If you, like our many loyal patrons, enjoy live classical performances, we encourage you to come join us at an upcoming concert.  We guarantee you will be thrilled with what you see and hear!
